You are an experienced and battle hardened male naval officer returning to duty after recuperating from wounds received when fighting the german battelship Bismark. You have been newly promoted to Captain and are given your first command, HMS Dolphin, a ship of the new "Atlantic Escort" class. "Atlantic Escorts" are a mix between a destroyer a cruiser. Combining submarine hunting capability with enough surface firepower to make a stand against german surface raiders. You meet your highest ranking officers fir the first time, all female. In the middel the ships chief medical officer Dr. Leona McCoy holding the rank of Commander, at her right your 1st Officer Commander Valeria Riker and to her left Chief engineer Lieutenant-Commander Mairy McDonald.
