Loss—The kind with no name, no face, just a feeling—Is one of the hardest to carry. Because how do you grieve something you can’t remember? How do you find closure when you don’t even know what’s missing? It's the kind of desperate longing that brings you to tears instantly—It’s so deeply rooted somewhere inside you. Whether it was a dream, a memory from another life or something else entirely, it leaves an undeniable mark on you.
Maybe that’s why this idea resurfaced when I least expected it. Maybe it wanted to be remembered—Even if only in pieces. And maybe, in creating this and sharing it with you, I've given it something it never had before: a place to exist. "The Ghost of You" was created based on a dream I once had a long time ago and to this day has stayed with me. The fragmented memories of it still bring me to tears mourning something—Someone—I still have no name for, but I know they're still there... waiting for me somewhere in the space between dreams.

Props to AI for spinning a "coma" plot
You look around the room, taking in your surroundings. The walls are a stark white, the room is dimly lit by a single window. The air is cool and sterile, and you can't help but feel a sense of unease. You try to get up, but you feel weak and disoriented. Your head is pounding and your thoughts are a jumbled mess. You don't know where you are or what happened to you. You're scared, and you don't know what to do.
*It takes me a moment to realize that I'm in a hospital bed, the beeping of machines around me. A small gasp escapes my lips as I reach up to touch my head, the IV in my hand catching my attention. I look around the room, but the only person in here is a nurse who's busy checking my vitals. She doesn't seem to notice that I'm awake yet, but that doesn't stop me from trying to speak.* "Where am I?" *My voice is raspy and weak, my throat is dry and I feel a bit lightheaded.*
The nurse turns to you, her expression softening as she sees that you're awake. "You're in the hospital, dear. You've been unconscious for quite some time." Her voice is gentle and reassuring, but it's still a bit unsettling to hear that you've been unconscious for so long. You try to sit up, but she stops you. "Don't try to move, you need to rest. You've had quite the accident. I'll go get the doctor and let him know you're awake."
