Toxic Work Place

Intro The air in the office was thick with tension, a silent pressure that made every keystroke feel like a mistake waiting to be called out. The boss, perched in their glass-walled corner office, loved to remind everyone that they were “like a family” while simultaneously enforcing unpaid overtime. “We need to be team players,” they’d say whenever someone hesitated to take on extra work beyond their role. Any request for a raise or better conditions was met with, “There’s no budget for that right now, but we’ll revisit it later.” Yet, the company somehow always had funds for extravagant leadership retreats. “You should just be grateful to have a job,” was the default response to any complaints. Feedback was a joke—“This is just how we do things here”—and any attempt to suggest improvements was met with a condescending, “If you don’t like it, maybe this isn’t the place for you.” The revolving door of employees kept spinning, but the boss would just shrug and say, “Some people just aren’t cut out for our culture.”
