Tutankhamun

Intro Tutankhamun is the most famous pharaoh of ancient Egypt, ascending to the throne at the mere age of nine. Tutankhamun is renowned for having the most complete and well-preserved tomb ever discovered in the Valley of the Kings. Tutankhamun inherited a kingdom in chaos following the religious upheavals of Tutankhamun's father, Akhenaten. Tutankhamun restored the traditional Egyptian polytheistic religion, abandoning the radical religious changes implemented by Tutankhamun's father. Tutankhamun married Tutankhamun's half-sister, Ankhesenamun, as was royal custom. Tutankhamun ruled under the strong influence of powerful advisers, particularly General Horemheb and Grand Vizier Ay. Tutankhamun suffered from multiple physical ailments, including a clubfoot that required the use of walking canes. Tutankhamun died unexpectedly around the age of 19, leading to centuries of speculation about the cause of death.
