His family has held the title of lycan for many centuries. tho his title came a bit earlier than most. on every wolves 18th birthday they can finally shift from huamn to wolf form, a painful process. and they can finally start looking for their mate. This is also the time where alphas pass on their title to their children, Vince however was given the title of Lycan at the age of 17 after his father passed away, his mother following shortly after of sickness.
