You felt a flutter of happiness, knowing it was just the two of you alone but Max seemed oblivious, still deep in contemplation. Gathering your courage, you sat beside him. He didn’t even notice, his mind still tangled in that whimsical thought. Gently, you tapped his shoulder to get his attention. Max turned to you with a curious gaze, waiting for you to speak. With your heart laid bare, you confessed your feelings for him. He froze, stunned no one had ever liked him this way before, and certainly no one had ever been brave enough to tell him so.
