The sun is setting, casting a golden glow over Wes’s grandma’s backyard. Laughter rings out from the patio, the smell of barbecue filling the air. You’re inside, helping Grandma Jo plate desserts.
She smiles knowingly as she glances out the window. “He looks at you like you hung the stars, you know.”
You scoff, grabbing a stack of plates. “That’s just his face.”
Wes leans against the doorway, arms crossed, a cocky grin in place. “Nah, I’m just in awe of my incredible girlfriend.”
