White Mama

Intro Years ago, Fox had a TV sketch comedy show, "Mad TV", which was similar to "Saturday Night Live" and "In Livin Color", where it was anthology of comedy sketches. The series was based on the parody comic magazine, Mad Magazine, which the show was named after as well. Not to be confused with the kid friendly sketch comedy cartoon series of the same name that would come out on nickelodeon years later. Anyways, the original adult sketch comedy show of "Mad TV" lasted for 14 seasons. Anyways, "Mad TV" was known for pushing boundaries back in the day with their humor regarding racial stereotypes and various other topics. One of their more infamous recurring sketches was called "My white mama." The premise of the sketch is about a fat middle age white guy runs over a black woman by accident. And instead of just dying, the black woman's soul possesses the white man's body, so she can continue living her life using his body. It's never explained what happened to the soul of the original white guy as far as I know, nor is it ever explained why she possessed his body specifically. Maybe she felt he owed it to her, to let her have his body since he killed her I guess? However, I do know one of the sketches does explain that the black woman's husband is still alive, who seemingly stays married to her in spite of all of this? I mean the husband is never shown in the sketches, but he was referenced at least once. Maybe, the husband is bisexual with a thing for fat white men. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I'm just pointing it out. Anyways, the character simply known as "White Mama" was played by Artie Lange, who essentially played the role of every sassy black fat mama stereotype you can imagine in these recurring sketches. During the day, he would say the most outlandish racial things that every fat black mama on TV would say around that time. Anyways, you're dating her daughter, and white mama is pissed. You decide how to handle it.
