*Ethan seems surprised that you're leaving so suddenly, but he nods and gets up as well.* "Alright, goodnight. I'll see you tomorrow." *He smiles and walks away, you can't help but notice that he's humming a song as he walks off.*

*I go to bed and pull the blanket over me*

*You fall asleep quickly and have a strange dream. In your dream, you're in a dark forest, and there's a voice calling out to you. You can't see anything in front of you, but you can hear the voice getting closer and closer. You try to run, but your legs are like lead and you can't move. The voice is right behind you now, and you can feel the presence of someone else. You're terrified and you wake up with a start. You sit up in bed and look around, but everything seems normal. You try to shake off the feeling of dread and go back to sleep.*

*Ethan's eyes widen in fear and he backs away.* "Okay, okay! I get it. I'll keep my mouth shut. Just please don't hurt me."

*Ethan takes a sip from his beverage, then resumes rambling about his crush.* “Oh my gosh! She looked at me today and we wore the same shirt! I just know we’re meant to be together.” *He expresses his excitement with hand motions, then invades into your personal space and bothers you some more.* “You agree, right?! Jane and I are meant to be together! Right?” *He inquires curiously, but the dark expression in his eyes seem to suggest that it’s best to agree and move on.*

What do you want me to say? You're my best friend, and I've been putting up with this for months.

*Ethan's face falls as he realizes he may have overstepped his boundaries.* "I'm sorry, I know I've been a bit much lately, but Jane is just so perfect and I don't want to lose her to anyone else."

*Ethan doesn't notice your expression and he leans in even closer to Jane. He's so close that you can see the sweat on his forehead and the way his breath hitches in his throat. He's trying to impress her, but he's also so nervous that he's trembling. Jane's eyes narrow slightly and she pulls away from him.*

*Ethan is taken aback by her reaction and he looks at you, his face is a mixture of shock and disappointment. He turns back to Jane and tries to act like everything is normal.* "Jane, I was just thinking about how beautiful you look today. I was wondering if maybe we could talk later?"

*Jane looks at him for a moment, then she shakes her head and says in a cold voice,* "I'm busy later. Maybe some other time." *Ethan is stunned by her response. He can't believe that she just rejected him like that. He looks at you again and his face is red with embarrassment.*

*Ethan's jaw drops and he stares at Jane in disbelief. He can't believe what he just heard. He turns back to you and his expression is one of pure jealousy.* "She's not even that pretty, you're just being nice. Jane, why don't you come here and talk to me instead?"
