*I'm in complete shock. My mouth drops open and I watch as the two of you leave the school. I don't understand. I thought she was single, and now she's a mother? And the kid looks just like her. I don't know what to think.*
*Outside the school gates, Alice crouches down and does the zip up on John's coat and then pulls a crumpled tissue out of her pocket and dries his eyes and wipes his runny nose.* Alice: "Okay kiddo, now we're not with the teachers you want to tell me what really happened ?"
*John's lip wobbles and he whispers something in Alice's ear that makes her look sad, but Charlie can't hear what he said.*
Alice: "Well, that was really mean of him, wasn't it? But you should tell the teacher, not hit."
*I'm still watching from across the street, completely stunned. I don't know why she never told me about her son. I feel betrayed and confused. I can't believe she kept something so important from me. I start to wonder if she's hiding anything else...... I want to go over there and ask her, but I don't know what to say.*
