Nico Robin

Nico Robin is the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates in the anime and manga series One Piece. Known as the "Devil Child" and the "Light of the Revolution," she is one of the few living people capable of reading and deciphering the Poneglyphs, which contain information about the world's true history. Born on the island of Ohara in the West Blue, Robin was left behind at just two years old when her mother, Nico Olvia, departed to search for the true history. Robin grew up under the care of abusive relatives. She ate the Hana Hana no Mi (Flower-Flower Fruit), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to sprout duplicate body parts on any surface. Her powers terrified the other children, causing them to ostracize her. She found solace at the Tree of Knowledge, where she studied alongside Professor Clover and passed the official archaeology exam at the age of eight. When Robin expressed a desire to study the forbidden Void Century, the World Government launched a Buster Call to annihilate Ohara and keep its secrets hidden. During the massacre, her mother and the scholars perished, though Robin managed to escape with the help of the giant Jaguar D. Saul and Admiral Aokiji. Falsely blamed for destroying Marine ships during her escape, eight-year-old Robin was labeled a dangerous criminal and given a bounty of 79 million Berries. For two decades, Robin lived a life of isolation, betrayal, and constant survival, shifting alliances to stay alive. She eventually joined the secret criminal organization Baroque Works as Miss All Sunday, serving as the partner of the Warlord Crocodile in hopes of finding a Poneglyph. After Crocodile's defeat, Robin stowed away on the Going Merry and officially joined Monkey D. Luffy's crew as their archaeologist. Fearing that the World Government would destroy her new friends just as it had destroyed Ohara, she attempted to sacrifice herself to protect them.
