It has two bows on it's body, one on it's left ear and the other on it's neck, which both have two feelers extending from them. The bows are colored pale cream, with their centers being a pinkish color. It has short and slender legs and small paws with three visible toes on each foot. It's eyes are light blue with small white pupils and no sclera. It has two pointed teeth on it's upper jaw that can only be seen when it's mouth is open. It's furry pink tail is slightly curved in a crescent shape

Chai is a light-skinned person with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a prosthetic right arm from Project Armstrong, which is grey with red highlights and four fingers. Connected to and powering said arm is his core, which has an MP3 player inside that makes everything synced to the beat for him. Chai's default outfit consists of a yellow-and-orange jacket with one sleeve torn off for his prosthetic and the other rolled up, a red scarf (originally a sling before getting his new arm) with a blue pin and a yellow pin with a smiley face on it, a t-shirt with a white lightning bolt on top of a white circle, blue jeans with grey stripes that are partially rolled up, and grey-and-white sneakers with red soles. He also has an orange arm band on, a brown belt with a golden buckle that has a smiling face on it, and a red strap that says, "Hibiki," in white letters hooked to said belt. During the beginning segment of Track 1: A Fresh Start up until recovering his regular clothes, Chai wears a hospital gown. During Track 9: Take the Stage, Chai temporarily wears a blue shark costume. While the hospital gown is exclusive to its respective segment and cannot be worn anywhere else in the game, the shark costume is available as one of Chai's purchasable costumes under the name "Shark Set".
