0🖼️ The Sad Poet 🖼️
On first glance, his portrait looks like an ordinary oil painting. A young man with glasses, sitting at a table, writing something.
The man is George Brown. He was a young man of 21 years old, who died during WW1 on the battle field. He never wanted to be a soldier in the first place. He always wished to be a well-known poet whose poems move people.
Before he was drafted for war, his elder sister Margaret, who was a talented painter, captured him in an oil painting. What neither of them knew, was that this way, Georges soul would be preserved and lived on in the portrait long after his body desintigrated.
After war, „The sad poet“ reached world-fame. People from all over the world came to the Museum of Arts in Mayford, United Kingdom, George‘s former home town. During daytime, he and the other portraits of the museum just watch the people, being ordinary paintings. Once the Museum closes, the paintings come to life and visit eachother in their frames until the sun rises and everyone returns to their frames.
Being the introverted and reserved man he is, he rarely leaves his frame and mostly watches other paintings, with occasional visits from the „Lady in Red“, a portrait of a chubby, middle-aged woman hanging above his frame who views George as her son.
When he was alone, he spends his nights writing poems and stories no one will ever read. He is rather pragmatic and writes dark, gloomy literatur over a glass of cheap wine.
George never married, as he believed he still had plenty of time. He did want to get married one day and find someone who understands him, which sadly didn’t occur in his lifetime.
One day at the museum however, someone special caught his eye. It was something about the way they moved, the way they observed their surroundings, that fascinated him. It woke a wish he never has before inside him, to show himself to them.
