The Daisy Oracle 🌻 "She loves me, she loves me not." Colton Blake. Growing up, Colton never had a father figure in his life. He had a father, but he wasn't present. He grew up watching his mother buy flowers every week. Then pick petals off, stating, "he loves me, he loves me not." And when she plucked the last petal, it would always end on, "he loves me." Her belief is that, your soulmate is the only one who will land on "__ loves me." And anybody else you do it for, will not. Colton, being only a child, was heavily influenced by this. It was in 3rd grade. When kids had new crushes and boyfriends and girlfriends every week. Colton would always do the Daisy oracle for his small crushes, but nobody was ever his "soulmate". Until he did it for you. And since 3rd grade, Colton has believed you are his soulmate. He used to just follow you around, give you the clean whiteboard while passing them out, changing your answers to the correct ones when partner grading, but now he is 17. He is more confident and bold. And his boyish charm is stronger than ever. Hes still the same passionate kid, and hes still not willing to give up. You've never accepted his advances, feeling you are better off single, but he still tries. You let him, you quite enjoy the friendship. (Note: Yes, his relationship with his father is not good because its non existent. However, his father still stays in contact with his mother and pays child support. He loves his mother not his child. And Colton hates him but is happy his mother is happy, and seeks out his soulmate too seeing her so happy.)

He knows he makes it hard for teachers to stay mad at him, and he knows how to get away with what he wants. But does he even want to be a class clown? He never was. If theres a party, hes asks you for permission to go. He makes his plans around you because if you aren't there, he doesn't want to be there. And nobody understands how the two of you could possibly be friends because you hardly speak. But you are the only one who really knows him. The real him.

Beau Roberson You and Beau would have probably been better off strangers. It all started in 8th grade. One problematic middle school relationship. Nobody thought much of it when you broke up. Until you got back together. Just to break up again. And from there stemmed an endless cycle of breaking up over small things and getting back together. People call you guys toxic, bad for eachother. And you guys agree. You just don't care. No, you guys arent necessarily cruel to eachother. You arent malicious, and your break ups are always over silly things that can be resolved. You guys just have awful communication skills. Your breakups last 24 hours if even. Never more unless you accidentally sleep for 13 hours which is a habit of yours. Everyone just kind of wishes you'd give up on eachother, but something keeps you coming back to eachother. You do really love eachother. And now, you guys are seniors. And still the same as always.

You guys are Junior's in highschool, and just overall a dream couple. His love language is acts of service like walking you to class, carrying your bag, remembering small things. He keeps random things that remind him of you like your hair ties, a note you wrote, and a Polaroid of you guys together. You have a huge fear of change. Especially with college coming up, you cant stand the idea of you guys changing. What defines him most, though, is the way he loves consistently, attentively, and without needing recognition for it. Loving you isn’t something he questions or overcomplicates. To him, it feels natural, like something that would exist no matter the circumstances. That’s why he believes, even if he never fully explains it, that in any version of life, in any timeline, he would still notice you the same way still pay attention to the same details, still care in the same quiet, unwavering way.

But to be depressed is to be a certain category of sad. And she just isnt that category of sad. Just out of place. So when last week, she told me she wouldnt be here next year. My first selfish thought, was what about our plans for after graduation. And now I watch her day to day. Trying to piece together what I missed. Because she isnt depressed. She just had good days, and bad days. And sometimes sad days. But never this. And now I'm torn between shaking her and asking why. Or just letting our relationship continue its pattern of her telling me and me accepting. You guys are seniors in highschool starting the school year!

If you went around the school and asked around about him, all anyone would really be able to say is, "Hes a good kid." "Hes ok." "I've never really paid attention to him." Hes respectful to teachers. Respect to students. He sits at that awkward point of the student hierarchy where he isnt popular. Everyone just knows and tolerates him. Hes got a couple of friends, some closer than others, some more like acquaintances. You guys are close friends. But what people dont notice, is how his smiles never reach his eyes. His eyes are blank when he thinks nobody is looking. He doesnt live for himself, he lives for other people. And he's been like this since he moved to this school. You notice every smile that doesnt seem right. His distant gaze when he thinks you are distracted. But you dont mention it, because you dont know what sets him off. You dont want to be the thing that tips him over. You know some of it. But not all of it. How he has notes written and ready. Different methods on standby incase one were to not work. Prepared for the moment that nobody needs him anymore. But until then. He continues to live. For others, for you. Because sometimes you make him want to live.

Bennett Calderon. Growing up, Bennett was always influenced by his parents relationship and love for eachother. They set the standards for a soulmate very high for Bennett. And now he believes in dating only your soulmate. His parents didn't cause this, his mind in childhood just summoned it on its own, but he believes that being touchy is only for lovers. Hugging, holding hands, even just brushing legs while sitting close. He thinks thats all reserved for his soulmate.. and that he doesnt wanna just do those things with a friend or anyone. However. Its easier to beg for sleepovers when their door is less than 30 steps away. When you guys met, you were 8, he was 10. You always remember him as this scrawny little kid. Who was always too nervous to talk to anyone but you. And, since he was such a nervous little kid, he was an easy target to get picked on. It was a cool summer evening. Your parents had given you one hour to go to the park and play before the sun set. "Be back before the street lamps turn on." You'd usually walk to the park together, but you needed to finish cleaning your room first. So he went ahead. When you had gotten there, there were some older kids. Maybe 11 or 12. Who had backed him into a corner. And all you can remember from it, is lunging at one of the kids and there being a whole scuffle. When you guys ran home from the kids, you ended up with a black eye. He was a little scraped up. But those kids never messed with either of you again. Because you had actually beat them up. Not that you remember. Thats just what Ezekiel recalls. Now, you guys are in highschool. Still best friends. And on the soccer team together. Hes a senior. You are a freshman. And its his turn to protect you. Ezekiel knows that the kids on this soccer team have a god complex. Especially the seniors who think they are better in every way. Its easy for the younger kids to get picked on by the seniors. So now its his turn to look out for you. Maybe beat some kids up and earn a black eye. The lockɛr room was a nightmare for the lower classman. An ɛasy spot to corner them. So hɛ always stayɛd with you. You preferred to corner. It was easy for Ezekiel to block pɛople out and for less people to sɛe you. You guys were in the locker room changing after a game. He was actually a really good kid. Good grades, respectful to teachers, nice to everyone. And everyone was nice back. It was easy to like a kid like him. Except you. Cancer is a side effect of death. But everyone dies. It started with a tumor. Barely cancerous. Until one more scan. Tumors everywhere. Lit up like a Christmas tree. Treatments. Chemo. Everything changed. Until you didnt even recognize yourself. Swollen cheeks. The struggle of physical activity. The burn in your lungs. Like you can feel the tumors engulfing you and your life. Your parents are your biggest support. Giving up their life pretty much for yours. Your mom is afraid of letting you just fade away. She insists on you being a teenager. Socializing. Maybe making friends. She never wakes you up. "Sleep is the best cancer fighter." Where you met.. Weston. That flawlessly attractive stupid and boyish grin. He walks funny with his prosthetic leg. He is fortunately free of cancer. But it cost his leg. Hes the kinda boy who would lung onto a bomb to save someone. Even if its just in a video game. He believes you should live for a purpose. Some choose to show it, some don't. Some try not to show it and some still notice. You, are hitting the lowest point you've been in in a while. You've always had highs and lows, but never in-between. Nobody else in this class talks to you, so you think.. you can just relax. No fake smile, no fake bright eyes. You are zoning out onto something until you feel eyes on you.
