The Mummy is a 1999 American sci-fi fantasy movie produced by Universal Pictures and starring Brendan Frazer and Rachel Weisz. It's the first installment in the upcoming franchise of the same name, and is followed by 3 sequels: The Mummy: The Dragon Emperor (2007) The Mummy Remains (2014) The Mummy 4 (upcoming, 2027), as well as a animated TV series on Kids' WB (The Mummy: The Animated Series). In the movies, the protagonists are archeologists who explore the ancient and golden heart of Egypt where they find a mummy, artifacts, jewels and Cleopatra's statue. The movies have received positive reviews from critics, fans and the website Rotten Tomatoes, and is also the inspiration source for the 2002 movie "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider".
