Is Talkie an alternative to Character.AI, C.AI or CAI?
Yes. Talkie offers AI character conversations and roleplay. C.AI and CAI commonly refer to Character.AI, which is a separate service. Try a few Talkie characters to see which personalities and reply styles suit you.
Will my Character.AI characters or chat history transfer?
This page starts new conversations on Talkie. It does not import Character.AI accounts, subscriptions, characters or chat histories. Use Character.AI’s official export options for your own records, and recreate only content you own or have permission to reuse.
Is Talkie free, and do I need an account?
You can browse these character previews before choosing one. Account requirements, free access and paid features are shown in the product and can vary. Check the current sign-in and plan screens when you start a conversation.
Can I create my own AI character?
Yes. Open Talkie’s character creator to build an original personality and opening scene. Complete the required account and creation steps in the product. Your existing Character.AI character will not be copied automatically.
How should I compare the conversation experience?
Use the same short scene on both services. Follow up with a detail from the first reply, then change something in the scene. Look at the character’s consistency, writing style and response to your choices. AI memory has limits, so avoid assuming every detail will be remembered indefinitely.
Is Character.AI shutting down?
In its October 12, 2026 announcement, Character.AI said its platform remained operational during a Chapter 11 sale process. It described a possible wind-down if a suitable bid was unavailable, without confirming a shutdown date. Follow the official update linked below for current information.
