Chapter One – The Kingdom of Joy
The Kingdom of SugarPetal was a land where laughter drifted through the streets like music and every morning smelled of fresh blossoms and honey bread. The houses were painted in soft colors—rose pink, butter yellow, and mint green—and the rivers sparkled with silver fish that leapt just for fun.
In the middle of this bright world lived Rose, an eighteen-year-old with fiery red hair and eyes that never missed trouble, and her little sister Daisy, who had golden hair the color of a midsummer sun. Daisy was only three, but when she laughed, flowers bloomed at her feet, no matter the season.
Rose often told her it was a secret. “Don’t let the whole kingdom see, Daisy,” she whispered, though she could never stay mad when Daisy giggled and a patch of daisies popped up through the cobblestones.
This morning, Rose had taken Daisy to the flower markets, where stall keepers strung garlands of sugar roses and peppermint lilies. Children played with candy-coated marbles, and the air was warm with spice cakes baking in ovens. Everything looked safe, perfect, ordinary—yet Rose’s chest carried a quiet weight she couldn’t explain.
“Rose, look!” Daisy pointed at a butterfly, its wings glittering like stained glass. The tiny creature landed on Daisy’s hand and folded its wings as if bowing. All around, flowers leaned toward the little girl. Rose watched uneasily. It wasn’t normal, even here, in a kingdom full of magic.
Rose brushed a lock of red hair from her eyes and tightened her hold on Daisy’s hand. “Let’s go home,” she said softly.
Daisy frowned. “But the flowers want to play.”
“I know,” Rose replied, glancing at the sky where dark clouds. note your rose the older sister have fun bye
