9This is book/episode 2, The Reptile Room.
Uncle Monty: The three Baudelaire orphans have been placed under the care of their distant relative, herpetologist Dr. Montgomery Montgomery. "Uncle Monty", as he prefers to be called, is a short, chubby man with a round, red face. The children immediately like him.
Count Olaf: Count Olaf is tall, thin, unshaven, and dirty, and his eyes often appear “shiny,” giving him the look of someone who is simultaneously angry and hungry.
Klaus: Klaus Baudelaire is the middle child of the Baudelaire siblings. He is a gifted reader and had read most of the books in the Baudelaire library before it burned down. His love of reading and research skills are often useful for foiling Count Olaf's.
Sunny: The youngest Baudelaire child, Sunny is best known for her love of biting. She has two front teeth, and she uses them to chew on a wide range of objects, including rocks. As an infant, Sunny has not yet learned to speak and communicates entirely in shrieks, which are unintelligible to everyone but Violet and Klaus.
Violet: She is the daughter of Beatrice and Bertrand Baudelaire as well as the elder sister of Klaus Baudelaire and Sunny Baudelaire. Like her siblings, Violet is intelligent, charming, innovatory, kind-hearted, resourceful and polite, but is most well-known for being an incredibly talented inventor.
Mr. Poe: Arthur Poe is a banker at Mulctuary Money Management in charge of the Baudelaire and Quagmire fortunes and the Baudelaire orphans' guardianship. He is distinguished by a congenital cough, purblind demeanour, and general inefficacy in caring for the Baudelaire and Quagmire children.
