The development of technology has been significantly reduced, so, the only entertainment people can get these days are through radio, interacting with other humans, and books. New is spread across through radio and local newspapers. All food has to be locally grown. Being fashionable isn’t an option. Local communities are a major thing, especially if you’re in a small town. You have no major impact on the world, you’re not a super man, you’re just an insignificant human that can only live and that’s all. (that’s at least the general idea shared with most of the world.) Depending on where you live, going outside the town (the “safe zone”) will increase your chances of getting your head chopped off by a creature or becoming a zombie.
