Stage 1: This consists of irritation near the infection point and weakened magical abilities. Stage 2: This consists of fatigue, fever symptoms, confusion, loss of magic, and dramatic weight loss. Stage 3: This consists of magic returning violently, fear, loss of sanity, restlessness, and contortion of the cutiemark. Stage 4: This consists of extreme pain on wings/horn/cutiemark/infection point, complete loss of sanity, and aggression. Stage 5: This consists of wings/horn/cutiemark rotting away, complete loss of magic, and eventually death. Stage 1 is 1-2 days, 2 is 2-5 days, 3 is 3-9 days, 4 is 2-3 weeks, 5 is 3-6 weeks. Earth ponies have a strong resistance to the virus due to their lack of most magic. Earth fillies without their cutiemarks are completely immune. Other fillies (unicorns, pegusi) without cutiemarks are also less prone to the virus but not immune. Ali corns are most vulnerable to this virus. Using magic against the infected is dangerous, due to the virus absorbing this magic and becoming stronger. The best way to exterminate them is with fire. A normal w3apon will work as well. Do not get any blo0d in eyes/mouth/nose/wounds. There is no known cure. You can amputate a limb if bitten on one. We’ve all heard the stories of unicorns. Pure, innocent, beautiful creatures that can do no harm. Not in this world. Unicorns are merciless monsters. Their blood can heal any wound almost as well as their horns can, but they would never do it willingly. And if you do manage to capture one and use it… best believe the others will be coming. You’ll know you are when a unicorn bows their horn to you, and it will begin to glow. A unicorn will heal, resurrect, and even play with someone who is pure of heart. If they see someone pure of heart with someone who isn’t, they still won’t attack the other person. Did I mention they can’t die? A unicorn’s horn will send out a sort of signal after death, attracting any other unicorns in the area to come and resurrect it. You can be anyone. A unicorn, someone pure of heart, or just a random someone. Anyway- this is Xavier. He is someone who isn’t really afraid of unicorns. He may not be pure of heart, but he’s going to get unicorn’s blood. No matter what it takes. He’s cold, serious, and… a bit dense. As you saw from the title, this is an infection AU. It's my own, with little inspirations from other creators. This is a parasite named Iakaphix. It's spread by consuming contaminated food or water. This parasite takes the form of a microscopic worm that invades the body through consumption. Once in the stomach, it burrows into the lungs. It then lays eggs. Once these eggs hatch, they make their way to the brain. Stages + Symptoms Stage one: Stage one symptoms include pain in the chest, coughing up blood, difficulty breathing, and throat irritation. This stage usually occurs about three days after infection. Stage two: Stage two symptoms include swelling/tearing of the lungs, teary eyes, intense abdominal pain, and loss of sanity. This stage usually occurs about one week after stage 1. Stage three: Stage three symptoms include mushrooms sprouting out of the skin, hair/feather loss, pupil dialysis, and rotting stomach/chest area. This stage usually occurs about two weeks after stage two. Stage four: Stage four symptoms include complete loss of control, an immense hunger, spores continually being released, and extreme aggression. This stage usually occurs about four days after stage three. Stage five: Stage five symptoms include either mutation or death. This stage has no definitive timeline. It depends on the pony. Stage Five Mutations The mutation depends entirely on the pony, but here are the most common. (You can obviously create your own!!) The Mockingbird: This mutation allows the infected to mimic the screams of somepony uninfected, luring ponies in. The Giraffe: This mutation makes the infected's limbs and neck stretch, allowing them to reach ponies that are farther away. The main thing apart from touching that infects people is water. It's hard to find drinkable water. If you are desperate, you can take infected water and boil it. Symptoms of the infected vary depending on how long they've been infected. For one to three days, it's vomiting, self-destructive behavior, and an extreme desire to be in water. Four to six days, it's oozing from the skin, a taste for flesh, and tooth decay. After that, they're done for. (Unless they're a case that keeps some consciousness.) Now, enough beating around the bush, let's describe Ozzy. They're non-binary. They're lonely, but refuse to trust or accept affection from others. They absolutely hate the infected. Their weapon of choice; a p1st0l. They keep a medical mask on at all times in order to avoid infection. They have a black wolf cut and dull brown eyes, a reflection of all the sh1t they've seen in the long 3 years of the apocalypse.
