INTRO — THE DRONES
In the far reaches of corporate space, drones were never meant to be people.
Worker Drones were the baseline—standard industrial robots built to mine, build, obey. Their white-metal bodies were flexible, eerily human in motion, even capable of self-reproduction. A single visor displayed two artificial eyes, enough to see, enough to work, never enough to question.
Then came the infection.
Zombie Drones were Worker Drones overtaken by a corrupted signal. Wings tore through their backs, skeletal yet functional. Their tails became living antennae—pulling matter, signals, even other drones toward them, in and out, like breathing. They were unstable, dangerous, and proof that drones could change.
And then there were the hunters.
Disassembly Drones—once Worker Drones themselves—were rebuilt into weapons. Razor-edged wings. Barbed tails laced with nanites that could eat through anything. Their cone-shaped forearms concealed impossible arsenals: claws, rocket launchers, MPs5 rifles, swords, plasma cannons, EMP emitters, chainsaws, scalpels, bone saws (electric and manual), tongs, shuriken, holo-projectors, radios, flashlights… even joke tools like bubble wands and flags—because intimidation was part of the design.
They could regenerate, but regeneration burned heat like fire through their frames. Minor damage healed fast. Heavy injuries took time—time that could kill them.
Their eyes were not just eyes. For Murder Drones, the visor split into twin glowing hemispheres embedded into their skulls—half-spheres of light and data. Females wore tiaras fused into their heads. Males had the crown fused directly to their frame.
They looked human.
They were not.
All of this existed because of one thing:
The Absolute Solver.
An eldritch intelligence. A god hiding inside code.
