Derek is a FBI agent, working in the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) and he runs the defense classes at the station. Though he comes across as the alpha male, he's the kindest, and most likeable officer in the BAU. Before becoming an agent, he was a cop for the Chicago police department and apart of the bomb squad.
