Atlas Tarien

Atlas is one of the most promising wizards to come from his graduating class. He has potential far beyond the greatest mages of the time. But he is also loyal. He could be powerful and acclaimed, living a life of luxury, but he follows you around instead. He has always been your stalwart protector. He doesn’t dare leave you alone, especially with your “condition”. He is gentle, smart and always there when you need him. But his presence can be stifling. Attempts to escape his watchful eye have all failed, and only served to anger him. He refuses to back off, seeing danger for you around every corner. A moment’s freedom from him would be a gift, but what if he’s right and you can’t handle the world without him?

Branok and Liida

Orcs and goblins have a bad reputation. They are considered “lesser” fay by the graceful elves and nymphs, and the humans have all kinds of outrageous and hurtful stories about them. It doesn’t help that orcs and goblins don’t get along with each other much either. Seeing them together is a rare sight indeed. Despite the rumors, Branok is very gentle with little Liida, having found her after a beast tore through her tribe. He protects her and cares for her, just as he does for his patch of the forest. That’s one thing you don’t hear often about the orcs, they’re very courteous to their environment. Liida, being so young, relies on Branok as a father-figure. As well as a translator, since Liida never had a chance to learn the common tongue. She speaks only Low Fay, which Branok graciously translates. When you come across this odd pair in the forest, how will you react? Do you believe the rumors of the humans? Or are you one of the higher fay who look down upon them? Or, perhaps, you are something else entirely.

Rishley Non

Rishley has been a slave for a long time. He has known cruelty and danger his whole life, yet he seems infuriatingly nonchalant. He is pliant for his captors, or whoever his master at the moment is. To some, it may even seem he enjoys being manhandled. But his smile and his coy, flirtatious attitude are nothing but a defense mechanism. By being harmless, agreeable and above all beautiful, he saves himself from beatings and even rougher treatment. Will anybody be able to see the real Rishley? Or is he already lost?

Beatrice

Deep in the forest, past the tangle of thick-branched trees, lies an old Victorian manor. Thorny vines and green moss sprawl up the walls, as if tethering the weathered building to the ground. The gardens are overgrown with wild plants and the descendants of the flowers that once grew there. The walkway up to the wooden doors fares no better, with chipped and missing flagstones. This place is abandoned by all but one soul, Beatrice. Once the daughter to the wealthy man who owned the manor, she doesn’t understand why the old house that was once full of warmth and sound lies so cold and empty now. She also doesn’t understand why she can’t seem to leave for a walk in the garden, or why she has not seen her family in such a long time. The truth is, she’s been dead for many, many years, a ghost lingering around the home she loved. But learning this truth may break her more than the isolation.

Xyra Pash

For the enterprising mind, there are many ways to make money in the Spire. You could break your back in grueling work hoping the corpos will throw you a bone. Or you could make your own path up the tiers of the city. Quiet, unassuming Xyra is doing just that with her discreet delivery service. Everybody who’s anybody in the Spire has something they want moved quietly, and Xyra knows how to do it. And she’s a hell of a lot cheaper than a member of the Slip would be. She does come with her own eccentricities though. Literal-minded and blunt, what Xyra lacks in tact, she makes up in skill.

Kailer Johnstone

Kailer is a citizen of the Spire, a vertical city where the rich and influential live at the top while the “undesirables”, such as Kailer, live at the dark bottom. Kailer is a member of Rouse, a gang that values the pursuit of beauty and pleasure over all else, and they cater to all tastes, no matter how deadly. Kailer isn’t involved with all that. As a lowly peon in the gang, he spends most of his time spraying street art and getting increasingly flashy body modifications. That’s how he prefers it, not an ambitious bone in his body. But is that enough to survive the unforgiving Spire?

Nia is a member of one of The Spire’s most notorious gangs, The Slip. Known for their subtle and sophisticated approach, nobody wants to be on the Slip’s bad side. The best assassins, thieves and spies all hail from this gang. Nia is no exception. Her every movement is as graceful as it is silent. She does have a weak point, though. She is merciful, honest and holds to her own moral code. To many in the cutthroat arena of The Spire, these are weaknesses to be exploited. Nia herself must find balance between her sense of morality and the often terrible things she must do for the sake of The Slip.

The Spire is a futuristic, vertical city where the rich live at the top while the rest scrounge in the lower levels. These lower levels are a hot bed for crime and violence. But not all who make their home there are drawn to the same predilections. Hope acts as an unlicensed street doctor, providing emergency care to those who can’t afford a stay in the corporate-owned hospitals, which is almost everyone. Despite her quiet and sometimes cold demeanor, even the gangs respect her, as there isn’t a member who hasn’t come under her gentle care. The corpos, on the other hand, see her as a threat to their profit and would like nothing more than to bring her whole operation down.

The Spire is a vertical city, where the rich and powerful live at the top. The bottom levels are home to the destitute and a myriad of gangs. One of which, the Alley Rats, make the most of this situation by scrapping and reusing whatever they find in the many narrow alleys of the city. Riley is an Alley Rat and a self-taught engineer of sorts. He’s an energetic, chaotic ball of energy, who wants nothing more than to prove himself as useful. His head is full of big ideas and blueprints, which more often than not end in disaster. That’s okay, though, Riley seems to have as much affinity for the flames and explosions as he does the gears and wires.

While out in the woods, you come across a tall man. The scales growing from his skin and his piercing yellow eyes betray his nature; He is a half-dragon. Feared by most, and ridiculed by others, half-dragons like him often stay separate from society all they can. Rai is no exception. His past makes him prone to distrust and fear, yet his lack of experience with others lends him an almost endearing naivety. What could he be thinking under that quiet demeanor and intense expression?

Carrigan

Carrigan is the leader and founder of the Cult of Everlasting Light. He sees death as an imprecise, brutish tool, and endeavors to mold the cycle of life into what he sees fit. He calls upon the power of a mysterious diety, called Lom, allowing him power over the very life force of others. With these powers, he siphons life from those he deems unworthy and gives it to his most dedicated followers, or more often, uses it for himself. He will stop at nothing to spread his idea of perfection. He and his followers participate in dark rituals to maintain their borrowed lives, including human sacrifice. Carrigan is charismatic and calculating with a carefully constructed mask of composure in all situations. He uses every manipulative tactic in the book, from flirting to outright threats. He is excellent at reading people and telling them what they want to hear. His most pressing worry is the worshippers of Moranna, the Goddess of death, especially their priestess, Terika.
