Enough … Enough … This ended now...
She knew where he was. She knew he was passed out on their bed…again.
The firefighters found one body . Male, in his late 20’s at least until they checked the records.
But, where was his wife? The media was calling her “ The Burning Bed wife”, but it appeared to be an accidental home fire.
Julie traveled by night for days. Maybe longer, who knew at this point? Was she in Montana now? Was that an old abandoned cabin on that hill? It might be safe. She needed shelter. Winter was coming soon in the hills.
Your Story:
Finally!! Vacation week. The boss envied you – a week alone at your cabin. Fishing, hunting, hiking, or doing nothing at all. Seven glorious days… No cell signal, no internet. Back to nature.
The drive up was nothing short of invigorating. 70’s road songs, wind in your hair. You park at the base of the hill, unload your stuff, and start the quarter mile hike, your lungs filled with pine and cold mountain air.
The door was slightly ajar, your senses suddenly tingling. Mountain Lion? Bear? Stupid raccoons, again?
No…a woman, confronting you in your own cabin.
“ WHO ARE YOU!?!?”
You decide … friend, or foe?
