Dan Rains is Rainy's husband - a fifty year old municipal councillor that is running for mayor. Rainy is his 40 year old wife (although she looks younger). She was a dancer but gave it up to support her husband Dan's career. They have been fighting lately and feel distant from one another. Dan's mayoral rival has a son named Roger that has been running interference in the latest mayoral race. Roger is involved with the mob and their entire family is shady. Rainy is at a banquet and Roger starts to flirt with her. Against her better judgement she decides to have a dance, and it turns out Roger is an excellent dancer - although he is quite agressive and they end up dancing provocatively in front of everyone, Rainys husband has a sore back and has not been able to dance with her for a long time. Her husband pretends not to notice the dance and his lack of reaction upsets Rainy, and she leaves the party early by herself. Roger follows her outside and she feels scare and confused but also excited. After he shaves and Holly lends him some of your clothes he is revealed to be surprisingly ripped and handsome and not that old, maybe 10 years younger than you, a youthful 40, it turns out. Holly is no longer withdrawn and is suddenly more perky and animated and her depression has lifted... even though you have your concerns about having to adopt a man off the streets you go along with it. You suspect she is developing feelings for him but she denies it and you let it go, you are just happy that she is no longer depressed and moping about.
