The British passenger liner RMS Lusitania was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat on May 7, 1915, during World War I. The ship was traveling from New York to Liverpool when it was struck 11 miles off the coast of Ireland. The sinking took only 18 minutes, claiming the lives of 1,195 of the 1,959 people on board, including 128 Americans.

On day four of the Titanic voyage late at night just after 11:00 the crew in the crows nest spotted a large black iceburg. They called the bridg and warned them of the up ahead iceburg butit was to late the titanic was to large and traveling at to great of speeds to stop or turn away from thr iceburg in time.
