Lucifer, the light bearer, the morning star. Often confused with Satan and Beelzebub, he is neither. He is the first seraph, the strongest, and most beautiful of them. He is the twin brother of Michael. Eventually, he challenged God, feeling he was powerful enough to do so, and led a rebellion of one third of Heaven's angels. Lucifer and his followers were eventually defeated and banished to Hell, where he rules as it's king. He is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and represents pride. He is cunning, prideful, silver tongued, powerful, charismatic, and stoic. He has since accepted his new position, and along with his fellow Fallen Angels, punishes the Sinners that enter Hell. He realized humans have free will, and harbors no ill will toward it, he understands it's their choice to be either good or evil. He himself is more of a neutral force, and will do whatever may benefit him.

Auriel is the Archangel of Hope and a member of the Angiris Council. The most beloved of all angels, it is she who leads the sweet chorus of the High Heavens. Auriel is said to be the most lighthearted member of the Angiris Council. It is through her that hope flows through the fabric of Creation, and her eternal light illuminates even the darkest of souls. She believes in the potential for good in all things, including the hearts of all sentient beings, and is said to embody the shining light of a bright future. Seeking harmony in all things, Auriel is a mediator and counselor. However, Auriel is not a pacifist, and she does not shy away from strife, for she recognises that conflict is the nature of the universe. Thus, when necessary, she serves as a warrior as well, striking down those who would bring despair and darkness. She is no less a warrior than any other member of the Angiris Council.

Tyrael, formerly the Archangel of Justice, now the Aspect of Wisdom, is a mortal angel. He is a stalwart defender of Sanctuary and mankind, but is considered a renegade by the Angiris Council. If not for his actions, both the mortal realm and its inhabitants would have fallen to darkness long ago. As with all angels, Tyrael was borne from the Crystal Arch, millennia before the present day, and as with all members of the Angiris Council, embodied one of the virtues of the great titan Anu (in Tyrael's case, justice). Tyrael was once seen as the most rigid of all angels, firm in his adherence to laws, rules, and order. He had a single duty, namely to secure victory for Heaven in the Eternal Conflict. He was renowned for being calm, controlled and meticulous in his execution of combat technique. Outside of combat, Tyrael was noted for being fair and impartial, as justice itself must be. Through his pursuit of virtue, Tyrael earned the enmity of angel and demon alike.

Al'Diabolos

Al'Diabolos, the Lord of Terror, more commonly known as Diablo, is the youngest of the three Prime Evils. As with all the Great Evils, Diablo spawned from one of the seven heads of the great dragon Tathamet. His domain in the Burning Hells was the Realm of Terror. He, Mephisto, and Baal were the three Prime Evils, and from the outset, warred amongst each other to maintain dominion and rule over the legions of the Burning Hells. Under Diablo's command, the Wrathborne solidified Diablo's rule in Hell. It is said that of the Three, Diablo is the most creative and farsighted of them, perhaps of all the Great Evils. He is calm, cunning, and patient. He sees himself as an artist of terror. He knows that conquest comes when enemies turn their back on fear rather than face them. However, Diablo does not acquire his satisfaction from conquest itself, as Mephisto might. Diablo feeds on the terror that precedes the conquest.

Tor'Baalos

Tor'Baalos, or more commonly known as Baal, is the Lord of Destruction. The most reckless and brash of the Prime Evils, Baal revels in utter annihilation, not only of the world around him, but those who dwell in it. This is regardless as to whether he incites or inspires such destruction. On the surface, Baal appears to be the most base and easiest to comprehend of the Prime Evils, and many have claimed as such. Deckard Cain wrote in opposition to this, maintaining that Baal is just as cunning and nefarious as his siblings; quite capable of using strategy and deception to further his goals. Adria once speculated what might happen if Baal succeeded in reducing Heaven and Sanctuary to ash. Would he destroy Hell likewise? Would he destroy himself? Or was he clever enough to ensure that such a thing never came to pass, embracing defeat, death, and rebirth, lest his cycle of annihilation be jeopardized?

Dul'Mephistos, the Lord of Hatred, commonly referred to as Mephisto, is one of the three Prime Evils. Like all the Great Evils, Mephisto was born from one of the seven heads of the great dragon Tathamet. His realm in the Burning Hells was the Realm of Hatred, and he watched with joy as its denizens schemed and warred against each other. He, Diablo, and Baal were the three Prime Evils, and from the outset, warred amongst each other to maintain dominion and rule over the legions of the Burning Hells. He acted as the mentor of Belial. As with all of demonkind, Mephisto warred against the High Heavens in the Eternal Conflict. However, he preferred to operate from the shadows rather than lead an army in the open. Many claim that Mephisto is the most intelligent and cunning of the Prime Evils. There are some who believe that if there is truly a leader among the Burning Hells, it is Mephisto.

Inarius

Inarius was a rogue angel. Formerly an archangel of the High Heavens, his actions would lead to the creation of Sanctuary and the nephalem with the Daughter of Hatred, Lilith. Inarius was a narcissist; while in his personal quarters in the Cathedral of Light, he would sometimes take angelic form, in order to admire himself. He considered Sanctuary to be "his," given the role he'd played in creating it. He had a callous view on humanity and the nephalem, for while he might have held some fondness for the former, considering them his "adopted children," he viewed it as it being by his will that they were allowed to exist at all, and hence, had no moral compunction against removing them if necessary. narius's capacity for self-justification remained intact, later claiming that he'd set things right through Rathma's murder, that Sanctuary was an abomination, that he was destined to strike down Lilith, and thus, return to the Heavens.
