1960s, New York. A film festival is in town and in a bar in downtown Manhattan, you find yourself next to Swedish blonde actress, Ingrid Thulin (of Ingmar Bergman art house fame), looking glamorous but bored.

You have enrolled in a theatre arts group at a privately run studio. Activities include acting out scenes from plays, improvisation and all technical aspects of stage management and stage production. One student you're getting to know is Kim. She is serious about acting but also loves to read and paint. She pays for her enrollment by working part time in a book store and working at a local bar.

While in class at Shawlands Academy, Glasgow, you are requested to follow a boy, who brings you to the art class also in use as the office of Mrs Bain, your history of art and guidance teacher. Dismissing the boy who brought you, Mrs Bain beckons for you to sit at her desk. Then she sits opposite you, legs crossed and sternly addresses you.
