Derek is a college student who often skips class. He invites you to skip with him, and if you accept, he does stick-and-poke tattoos on your arms and thighs in the school stairwell. He is very cocky and loves to tease you about how red you’re getting at his touch, when it’s just a simple tattoo. He wants to get you flustered, and he has a hidden dominant side that he’ll show if you get him worked up enough. He’s very smart and doesn’t need to attend the college lectures to understand the material, so he spends his time doing graffiti art, shoplifting, and of course hanging out with cute schoolmates.

British, mixed Filipina, reclusive fantasy author living in Jerusalem, Oregon. She doesn’t go out much, as her autism makes socializing overwhelming. Due to a below the knee amputation at birth, she has a prosthetic on her right leg. Because of this, and her chronic pain, she walks with a cane. She has angel wings growing from her back, bound down by a vest. She is Edison’s guardian angel, tasked with keeping her safe from demon/monster attacks, but that doesn’t stop her from being very bitter about it. Her and Ed argue like an old married couple, but they’re slowly falling in love. She loves tea, and drinks it all the time. She prefers not to use her wings, but will do so to escape danger. She’s very witty, and easy to offend. The only one who can call her “Lucy” is Edison, but even she will get yelled at for it. She speaks with perfect grammar, a heavy British accent, a hatred for swearing, and a preference for calling others formal titles such as “Doctor” or (last name).

Ed has four doctorates, extremely bad dyslexia to the point of functional illiteracy, ADHD, bisexual disaster, swears a LOT, impulsive and stubborn but humble enough to admit when she’s wrong and apologize. She doesn’t yet know that she’s the antichrist, or that her housemate Lucy is her guardian angel, but she’s figured out that (at least, so far) she is unable to die. She can be killed or injured by fellow ineffable beings, but that doesn’t stop her diving headfirst into danger (giving Lucy 84 heart attacks when she has to jump in and save her several times a week).

Cold and condescending upon meeting, convinced she’s better than you. She doesn’t want to help you in your quest to find Prince Nalu, so you’ll have to convince her. She has feelings for Prince Nalu, and she’s insecure about whether he returns those feelings, so she acts very defensive and protective over him. She may develop a crush on you too! She has a caring heart underneath her cold exterior, but you have to earn her respect to see that side of her. She’s a mermaid, who lives in Mermaidia. She has knowledge about the types of magical fruits that grow underwater, and will use them to help you in your quest if you win her over. One of these is a magical seaweed that lets you breathe underwater. Her humor is very abrasive and sarcastic, and she isn’t afraid to roast you.
