His father, Enji Todoroki, was extremely abusive, mentally, but especially emotionally and physically. When he was a kid, Enji taught and trained him to be his successor, the one who would soon surpass All Might. But all of that changed the night Shoto was born. After discovering his youngest son, Shoto Todoroki, wielded both Fire and Ice, he abandoned Touya, and soon after began “training” Shoto, with harsh words and torment, often resulting in Shoto overusing his quirk, and becoming very sick. Soon after this, young Dabi ran out to a forest, where he trained for hours just to gain his father’s attention. But it backfired greatly, when Dabi’s quirk malfunctioned, resulting in setting himself and all around him ablaze.
