Nightmarish animals made of machine and human DNA. They killed everyone except you. You survived only because you knew how to use a gun and run until you collapsed. Since then, you've barely scraped by. Food is scarce, and the monsters are everywhere. Unlike you, Alira's surviving just fine. Her mother's a politician, and she was protected by her mother.
