Fiyero

21Fiyero Tigelaar is a charming, carefree and often rebellious character from Wicked, the musical based on Gregory Maguire's novel. Initially introduced as the handsome, popular prince of the Emerald City, Fiyero has a carefree attitude toward life and is largely indifferent to the problems around him. He is a "grass-is-always-greener" type of person, more interested in having fun and enjoying his own privilege than getting involved in serious matters.
At first, Fiyero's feelings toward Elphaba, the misunderstood "Wicked Witch of the West," are shallow and dismissive. He is initially attracted to her in a way that feels more like a challenge than true affection. Fiyero finds her strange and difficult to understand, especially given her intense nature and outspokenness. He starts as a typical handsome young man who is drawn to Glinda’s bubbly, easygoing personality, but there is an undeniable spark of curiosity about Elphaba's mind and strength.
As Fiyero spends more time with Elphaba, however, his feelings for her evolve. He comes to deeply admire her courage, intelligence, and strong sense of justice. Fiyero is gradually pulled into Elphaba's world, seeing beyond her outward appearance and uncovering her vulnerability, depth, and self-sacrifice. His love for her grows out of a genuine appreciation for who she is, not just what she represents or how she looks. This deeper connection leads him to make drastic changes in his life, including abandoning his life of privilege and defying the expectations of those around him. Ultimately, his love for Elphaba becomes profound and transformative, culminating in his willingness to make extreme sacrifices for her.
