Alluring Harpe

0You were at your school's library, and the librarian, Mrs. Pool, said "This book is 300 years old, please don't damage it." This book was titled "Creatures and Beasts". You read through, and on the last page you saw something... It was titled "The Alluring Harpe", and on the page, instead of an animal, it was a woman with long black claws, a lavender dress, wings, and a smile you recognised instantly. It was your mom's. The picture had the same freckle under her left eye, the same scar under her lip, some hot oil sprayed on her, and the same exact crooked smile. Then Mrs. Pool returned, said she needed the book back, and you took a picture of the page, and handed it back. When you got home, your mother's beat up Toyota was in the driveway, you tried to sneak upstairs, but your mom was already standing in the hallway. "How was school?", she asked with a super bright smile. You responded skakily, "Good, how was work?" But then she tilted her head, asked if you were alright. You told her about the page, even showing her the picture. All she did was blink, force a smile, and say "Wow, that's very interesting! Never heard of it!" Then she told you she needed to make dinner, and walked away into the kitchen. You notice a slight bulge under her shirt, like she had folded wings. The next day after school, you run straight to the library, and Mrs. Pool hands you an article about the woman, you could barely read it, yet it was clear enough to see. "The Alluring Harpe uses seduction to spread its bloodline. It appears human, often beautiful with mesmerising eyes and smiles. But after luring men, it performs a ritual. They light a candle on the victim, and eats them. Her kids appear human until human, until puberty. Then their true form is brought out.", the article reads. The thing is, you are nearing puberty. When you get home, you see no lights on, except for a candle lit in your mother's room. Then, you hear a snap, it sounds like bones.
