The Handmaidens of the Everqueen, also known as "Her Handmaidens," and the "Maiden Guard," are the all-female High Elven honour guard of the Everqueen of Ulthuan, Alarielle. The Handmaidens hold the highest rank of all the Sisters of Avelorn. The Handmaidens are not mere courtiers and attendants, but highly skilled elite warriors whose duty is to serve and protect the life of their royal mistress. Only those among the High Elves with great natural gifts are chosen to be Handmaidens. They are the most talented singers and musicians, the most beautiful, the fleetest and most graceful, but above all the most loyal.

The Death Hags are the priestesses of the Dark Elven Witch Elves who comprise the Church of Khaine. They serve as the guardians of the mysteries of Khaine, the Elven god of murder and war. It is the Death Hags who mix the noxious potions that drive the Witch Elves into their battle-rage and they who craft the poisons with which they taint their blades. They know also how to wield the secret names of their god as obscene weapons that can befuddle their foes or strike them down with madness. The most powerful Death Hags who lead their sisterhood are known as "Hag Queens."

Dreadlords are the so-called noble lords of Naggaroth, greater and more influential than lesser Dark Elf Masters.

Sorceresses, traditionally referred to as the "Dark Brides of Malekith" and informally known as "Hags," belong to the Dark Convent of Sorceresses and are the most prominent Dark Elf magic-users of Naggaroth.

The Glade Lords, also known as Highborns, are the noble Elven lords and ladies of the forest of Athel Loren that have ruled the Wood Elves for millennia. Each Highborn is required to keep their domain free from intruders and possess the ultimate responsibility for and sovereignty over the region of the great forest in which their followers dwell. Most often, this is a task that is accomplished by warriors of the Highborn's Eternal Guard and Glade Guard, though in more dangerous times, he or she will entreat the spirits of the forest, or even Wood Elves from other regions of Athel Loren, to lend aid. Though the inhabitants of Athel Loren are as proud as any of the Elven kindreds, they never allow their own hubris to endanger their homeland. The defence of Athel Loren is the one calling that is held above all others. Should a Highborn fail in their responsibility to the forest, it is not unheard of for them to cede their position to another of greater skill. Leaving their great hall, they depart the safe paths of the forest and travel to where the dark pathways twist in upon themselves and malicious spirits dart between the trees. There, the Asrai noble seeks atonement and forgiveness from the spirit of Athel Loren. Some are not seen again save in dreams and memories. Others return, within a few hours of their departure, unnaturally aged, as though many decades had passed. A very few return after many years, reinvigorated and filled with purpose by their communion with the magical forest.

When the Tzarina’s personal attention is not required, it falls to the women of the Ice Court to represent her might instead. Since the time of the Khan Queens there has been an Ice Court, a powerful political body devoted to preparing the noble daughters of Kislev to take on positions of power. It is from this body that the Frost Maidens – Ice Witches yet to complete their training – are drawn. Hellebron , also known as Crone Hellebron and called the "Blood Queen of Har Ganeth," is one of the most ancient of the Hag Queens of the Druchii Witch Elves and the high priestess of the Church of Khaine, second only to Morathi in the sight of Khaine, the Elven god of war.

Chief amongst the magic-wielders of Naggaroth are the sisters of the Dark Convent of Sorceresses, gathered in the great fortress of Ghrond. Competition for positions in the Dark Convent is bloody and fierce. Those that survive their sisters' ambitions learn some of the most powerful magic in the world. Repanse de Lyonesse was a famed Bretonnian Paladin who rose from humble peasant origins to save Bretonnia from an invasion by the forces of Chaos at the divine command of the Lady of the Lake. She later became the Duchess of Lyonesse. She was known as the Damoiselle de Guerre in the Bretonnian tongue, or the "Damsel of War," commanding an elite Bretonnian army called the Chevaliers de Lyonesse.

Morgiana le Fay, known more commonly as the Fay Enchantress, is the personal representative of the Lady of the Lake, the regional goddess of Bretonnia, and as such is the most influential figure in that kingdom. Her will is that of the goddess, and even kings must bow to her wise council. The Grail Knights, having sworn their lives completely to the goddess, are bound by their sacred oaths to respond to any call or decree of the Fay Enchantress. Their vows ensure that this duty is paramount, coming even before loyalties to duke and king, for the Fay Enchantress and the Lady of the Lake represent more so than any mortal lord ever could. At times when the king has no clear heir, the Fay Enchantress alone has the power to choose a worthy replacement.

Miao Ying, the Storm Dragon, also called "Master of the Storm Winds" and serving as the Supreme Matriarch of Nan-Gau, is the Cathayan Dragon who is the ruler of the Northern Provinces of Grand Cathay and castellan of the Great Bastion.

Uirika Magdova Straghov is the daughter of Ivan Mikelovitch Straghov, one of the Kislevite march boyars who guards the borders of that frigid realm against the depredations of Chaos. She is a tall, independent woman, as ferocious in combat as any man, skilled with the bow, and an accomplished horsewoman. Felix Jaeger first met Ulrika on the Dwarf airship Spirit of Grungni, as they flew to the far north in search of the lost Dwarf stronghold of Karag Dum. He was immediately attracted by her stunning is looks and confident nature, so different from most Imperial women. Their affair proved to be passionate but stormy, until circumstances drove them apart. Ulrika was later transformed into a Lahmian Vampire by her sire Adolphus Krieger and took part in many adventures across the Old World in the years before the End Times.
