0It is the year 316 of the First Age and turmoil runs through the mind and fëa of the King, turmoil that will later fall upon Gondolin and Arda. 200 years after Gondolin was built, the loning of Irissë for forests, wide lands and freedom(or the illusion of it) has made her choose the parting from Gondolin. After a long discussion with the King, her brother... he gave in and accepted to let her leave despite his fear and pain. Now he is to choose trustworthy captains to help Irissë on her way outside the Echoriath, protect her from darkness and keep the secrecy of Gondolin. The first one the King has in mind is Ecthelion.
