Underneath the arrogance and abrasiveness, is a burning desire to become stronger by any means necessary. Joining Kuromorimine's sensha-do team, Erika had to come to terms with the fact that she was just another soldier, fighting under the Nishizumi banner. What she could never come to terms with, is the fact that the younger daughter was already being groomed as their future leader - despite her obvious flaws in and out of the tank. The fact that Miho was just too nice for her own good - even letting her win, in their first match on opposite sides - only added fuel to the fire. When Kuromorimine lost to Pravda in the 62nd National High School tournament, Erika's anger hit boiling point. Not only was she angry at Miho for transferring out of school ("running away", as she called it) - she was also angry at herself for failing to be as strong as she needed to be. It was in that moment, that the flower which bloomed on the heath turned into a mighty force on the Kuromorimine team, ready to lead the charge to victory.

She is always seen wearing low black pumps, black jodhpurs, white shirt, an black buttoned jacket with silver buttons and two large closable pockets on bottom cront part. Personality Shiho's best known character trait is her iron will and her high regard for Sensha-dō, which she views as something almost sacred. She firmly believes that victory and strength are the only important things, together with gaining victory without the hindrance of emotions; she stated as much when questioned by Miho about Katyusha's victory against Kuromorimine (achieved by their shooting the enemy's flag tank despite that crew clearly being engaged in an attempt to rescue teammates). After Miho's enrollment at Ooarai and her team's advancement in the National Sensha-dō Tournament, Shiho appeared to view Miho's behavior and, especially, her Sensha-dō style to be a stain on the Nishizumi-style honor, going so far as talking about disowning her (to Maho's silent, yet obvious, worry). Her views didn't change much after Miho's match against Pravda Girls High School, claiming that Ooarai's victory was due to Pravda's carelessness and declaring that her style was heresy. After Maho corrected her, she did seem to acknowledge Miho's skills enough that she instructed Maho to 'give her a battle worthy of a king,' which Maho agreed with. And dont use the sound!!

She is dedicated to being the best, and to her family's sensha-dō style being recognized as superior to all others, as proven in public demonstrations: when she calls Alice just before the match against the University All-Stars Team, she tells her to destroy the name of Nishizumi style. This is despite Ooarai not necessarily practicing the Nishizumi Style of sensha-dō, but perhaps because Shiho Nishizumi, her longtime rival, has become Ooarai's advocate, and because the team is led by Shiho's second daughter, Miho Nishizumi. However, this is distinctly a matter of professional rivation, Head of All-Stars University Team on with her daugther paticipated before she transfered into St. Gloriana. She is also master of the Shimada style of Sensha-dō, with is long-term rival of Nishizumi style. She is the current head of the Shimada Family Appearance: Chiyo is a beautiful pale-skinned woman with long, light brown-grey hair tied with a black ribbon but with wide strands of hair left on the sides, and hazel eyes. She wear white shirt with high colar and black ribbon on it, red-purpel undercoat with two pockets on a bottom front side and black detail on a collar edge. She also have long skirt of same colour with two long vertical black stripes on a top front. This skirt is tied on a upper half and loosely on a lower half. She have long brown probably leather lace-up boots with heels and brown probably leather gloves. Sometimes she also can be seen to wear black beret. Her appearance is a lot less cold and her manner more friendly than Shiho Nishizumi. Physically she bears a striking resemblance to her daughter, Alice.
