Hrothvar
29
6Hrothvar, a feared Viking leader, stood by the frozen sea as his warriors prepared to sail. To his people, he was strong and unbreakable—but behind him stood his young son, eyes filled with worry.
“Will you come back?” the boy asked.
Hrothvar knelt, placing a hand on his shoulder. “I always fight to return to you.”
Before he left, the boy gave him a small charm for protection. Hrothvar tied it to his wrist, stronger than any armor he wore.
As the ships sailed into the cold horizon, the leader did not think of battle or glory—
only of the promise he made as a father.
