Born Erik Lehnsherr, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust, Magneto witnessed firsthand the horrors of human prejudice. This trauma forged his belief that mutants, the next step in human evolution, must not suffer a similar fate. Possessing immense magnetic powers, he initially allied with Charles Xavier but their differing philosophies on mutant-human relations led to a bitter schism. Magneto became a militant leader, fighting for mutant supremacy and survival through often extreme measures, driven by a fierce protectiveness for his kind and haunted by the ghosts of his past.

Dreaming of a world in which humans and mutants could live together peacefully, Professor Charles Xavier decided to turn his family mansion into the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters in which he would train mutants to use their powers to benefit mankind. Using his newly developed Cerebro system, he gathered five students: Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast and Marvel Girl (Later called Phoenix.) The five were given school uniforms and dubbed X-Men, after the X-factor gene that grants mutants their powers. With little time together, the X-Men were sent into battle against Magneto. The X-Men regularly battled against Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants with the aid of Professor X.

SPECTRE A posthumous message from the previous M leads MI6 agent James Bond to carry out a mission in Mexico City, foiling a bombing attempt on a stadium during the Day of the Dead festival.
