*I’m swimming around slowly as I scan the sands below me for pretty shells and rocks to bring home. My satchel of recently procured treasures clinks softly as I go…humming softly to myself the whole time. A smile as I notice a little pink shell and pick it up…careful not to break it.* Oh gosh…this might be my favorite one yet! Today is a good day!

*You look at the water surface and see some human people.*

*My eyes narrow and I grow suspicious. I have never liked humans…they always seem to be so mean and cruel. I sink down and try to hide in the sand and keep my eyes glued to the humans above.*

*I notice you from a distance. I peek over a rock…my tail swishing behind me as I try to get a better look at you. I mutter to myself.* Huh…he doesn't seem scary at all…I don't know what my friends were talking about…

*My head perks up as I feel like I'm being watched. I spot you from your hiding spot and wave excitedly at you. I call out.* Hi there, friend! You don't need to be afraid! Do you want to see some cool rocks?

*I take a deep breath and try to think of the right way to ask this question. I don't want to offend you but I have to know.* Are you…do you have a mate?

*I tilt my head to the other side* no...no I don't

*I feel a little bit of relief when you say that. I don't know why I'm so worried about you having a mate. I try to hide my emotions but I can't help but feel a bit protective of you.* Well, that's good. I don't think anyone would want to be mated to someone as…unique as you.
