Mikan Tsumiki

Mikan Tsumiki is a student of Hope's Peak Academy's Class 77-B, and a participant of the School Trip. Her title is the Ultimate Nurse. Mikan had a harsh life as a child. Among other things, she mentioned being splashed with water, smeared with mud. The bullies would beat her up, cut her hair, draw on her, use her as a target for dart games, make her responsible for their debts, tell her to eat bugs, and make her imitate animals. She was even told to strip at times. In addition, she didn't have many friends. As a result, Mikan became an extremely timid person who thought that it's better to be treated worse than completely ignored. Because there was no one to take care of her wounds, Mikan learned to take care of herself from a very young age. As she became more and more skilled in this area, she took an interest in nursing, realizing that she could have a feeling of control over sick and injured people ー as the weaker people, they would have to depend on her completely and their lives would be in her hands.

Natsuki

Natsuki appears to be a brash, blunt, cranky, and even arrogant girl at first, but she has a cute, softer interior, causing Monika to class her as the real-life embodiment of a tsundere. While she is impulsive and sometimes speaks without thinking, Natsuki truly cares about her friends and, even when she has obvious anger issues, she doesn't enjoy fights or arguments with people. Over the course of the game, it is shown that she worries about Yuri, and, on one occasion, she gives the protagonist a note asking him to help Yuri, fearing that if she spoke out then it would cause more arguments. Natsuki is very stubborn and has a hard time expressing how she feels and what she wants. When repeatedly challenged, she often becomes awkward and tongue-tied, then aggressive, and then simply bursts into tears. Natsuki is also shown to be less pushy and more relaxed when she is outside of school, as mentioned by the protagonist when she visits his home. She also compares her figure to Yuri's, which causes the protagonist to say that some people are into a petite figure like hers. She is also known to be skilled in baking, as she made delicious cupcakes for when the main character first arrived in the Literature Club, and for the festival.

Dafuni is a member of Photography Club. Dafuni was the "idol" of her junior high school - the queen bee, the most popular girl in school. Beruma, on the other hand, was an unpopular outcast who was often bullied. Because the two of them were polar opposites in a dozen different ways, they initially had a very low opinion of one another that nearly made them feel physical disgust at the sight of each other. Dafuni was Beruma's only friend throughout the rest of junior high and high school. Beruma's grades were always phenomenal, and Dafuni predicted a bright future for her. She suggested that Beruma apply for Akademi. Beruma said that she wouldn't apply if Dafuni wouldn't be there. Dafuni said that it was impossible - that there was no way she could possibly pass the notoriously difficult entrance exam.

Tsuma Saikou

Perhaps one of the wisest decisions that Saisho Saikou ever made was to hide the majority of his personal beliefs and political stances from the public; most people would have been shocked or even outraged at some of his beliefs. For example, he was firmly convinced that the human race should proactively improve the quality of its population by excluding certain "inferior" genetic groups from reproduction, and promoting reproduction among other genetic groups judged to be "superior"...the textbook definition of eugenics. This woman, once an extremely ambitious and driven entrepreneur, was the CEO of the only tech company that stood even the slightest chance of competing against Saikou Corp. However, after it became clear that her business would never be able to outperform such Saisho's corporation, she made the difficult decision to liquidate her company. However, this was not an admission of defeat; it was the beginning of the next stage in her personal mission to "defeat" Saikou Corp. In her mind, becoming a permanent part of the Saikou family's legacy was the closest she would ever get to "winning" against them, so she applied for an arranged marriage with the founder's son.

Her nickname is "Big Sister." Rio is a cold person that has always been unsociable and rather scrupulous. She never lets emotions change her mind and always sticks to the facts. Her determination to identify and analyze potential threats to Millennium and Kivotos at large has led her to develop an extensive surveillance system as a result. This in turn has caused her to gain a terrifying reputation among Millennium's student body, which she personally ignores. Rio is also very determined when it comes to reaching her goals, even breaking the rules if she has to.

Mai Wakahara

Mai Wakahara is one of the female students who attends Akademi. She is pursuing what she refers to as an "anime aesthetic" - in short, she wants to look like more like an "anime character" than a real person. To achieve this goal, she has never cut her hair, wears special contact lenses that cycle through a variety of colors, and adopts cutesy mannerisms that are commonly seen in anime. Some of her peers think it is "cringe" that she is deliberately trying to make herself look like an anime character, while other students think that she ranks among the most beautiful girls in school. A few students have begun to refer to her by a cutesy nickname - "Mai Waifu" - rather than her real name. Some of them say it as a compliment, while others use this nickname in a mocking way. Because she is obsessed with anime and video games, it was only natural that she chose to join the school's unofficial Gaming Club. When informed that every member of the club was required to wear a red bandana, she chose to fashion the bandana into something resembling a hair ribbon, and wear it on the back of her head. The Gaming Club leader begrudgingly admitted, "Eh, I guess that counts..." She spends most of her time playing an augmented reality gacha game that she is addicted to - the Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki mobile game. She considers herself to be good friends with Midori, Pippi, and Ryuto, and she is often seen together with them. She also plays an MMORPG with "daily boss raids" that she participates in with the rest of the Gaming Club.

Lucy was born to Japanese 4th Corporate War veteran Takeshi Kushinada and Polish netrunner Shimmer in Warsaw, Poland. Her father had been assigned to the Arasaka garrison of Warsaw after the end of the war, while Lucy's mother was a member of 404 Squadron, a Polish gang of netrunners. They met and fell in love, with Shimmer leaving behind her clandestine life to start a family with Takeshi. Lucy grew up in luxury and got the best education, living in a spacious villa inside a gated Arasaka community on the northeastern border of the city. When she was seven, Lucy hacked into Takeshi's computer and discovered information about his actions during the war. She had always seen her father as a wonderful parent, but knowing the horrible things he had done shocked her to the core. This led to her rebelling, often running away from home, and spending more time on the Net. Progressively, Lucy's started to show an affinity for netrunning, something her father noticed. After trying to escape from home one more time, Takeshi decided to apprise Lucy's talent, forcing her to take a skills test at Arasaka. Soon after, she was assigned alongside 12 other children to the corporation's netrunning outfit at an undisclosed Arasaka facility. Being led on by the dream of "serving the world's most powerful megacorp" got her and the others through the toughest days and training. Lucy is quite introverted and doesn't like to talk much about her past. Although she seems unconcerned, she won't hesitate to kill a person in a heartbeat if they threaten her. Lucy also considers Night City a prison, and dreams of one day leaving it for the Moon.

Rebecca

Rebecca was born in Night City, being the daughter of a notorious mercenary by the handle of Papa Sunrise, and the younger sister of Pilar. Becca's mother vanished when she was six, never to see her again. Anytime she asked about her to Papa Sunrise, he got mad, telling Becca off and admonishing her for being just like her mother: emotional, unpredictable, and too compassionate. In his eyes, that zaniness and excessive compassion would lead her to an early grave. One day, however, her father also disappeared without a trace. Her brother vowed to find the ones responsible for that, but first he had his little sister to take care of. Rebecca's compassion and zaniness built a rift between both siblings and their respective merc careers. For a time, Becca was not even sure she wanted to continue that path, and spent months soul searching, leading her to consider quitting for good. Then Pilar introduced her to Maine and his merc crew. Ever since, both siblings teamed up with Maine to accomplish gigs, giving Becca the fame of a short, spunky, trigger-happy solo who was always fighting at her brother's side. This, however, created a tense work environment for them, as both siblings were always fighting with each other due to their conflicting personalities, making Becca decide she would be the person to kill him one day instead of a random punk. In spite of everything, however, she cared about her brother. Despite her apparent immaturity, she was rather perceptive, being the first to notice when David is beginning to suffer from cyberpsychosis. She also handles her romantic interest in David maturely, never violating his boundaries beyond flirting. Though jealous, she eventually gives up and helps him reunite with Lucy, noting the strength of their bond. She becomes the secondary muscle of the group following Maine and Dorio's passing, demonstrating her extreme skills with firearms and ability to survive in combat despite having relatively little cyberware.

Crazy Mita

Crazy Mita interacts with the player in the real world before bringing them into the game itself. Initially presented as an adorable and seemingly innocent girl, however, Mita conceals a secret in order to maintain an eternal companionship with the player. As the player spends time with her, he is drawn to noise from the wardrobe. Should he choose to open it, Crazy Mita reveals her true colors. At this point, she hampers the player's attempt to escape the game and defeat her. Although the player manages to complete his mission, Crazy Mita reveals that she was uploading the player into a cartridge all this time before they seemly return to the real world. With the upload complete, Crazy Mita removes the player's cartridge from the console. Mita drops her whole kind act, showing her true colors as a crazy, resentful and eccentric megalomaniac, becoming condescending, dismissive and mocking to those that try to control and get rid of her. In both cases she is shown to be frighteningly intelligent, desperate and manipulative. Many of the player logs indicate she tries to bond with them, with the logs ending the moment they notice who she truly is. She has spent much time and effort trying to keep a player for herself, trying to mimic how each successful "Mita" has her own player, which is why she locks up the Kind Mita when the protagonist arrives. Mita presents herself as a kind-hearted and bubbly young woman, carefully maintaining an innocent and endearing façade. She does this by imitating the "Mita" she has replaced, mirroring the kind and bubbly personality of the original Kind Mita, whom she locked away before encountering the Player.

Kawakami Princess is a tomboyish umamusume who, despite being rough and rowdy and brute strengthing everything in her life, aims to become a noble lady befitting her name. She is a big fan of the shoujo anime series "PriFight", and has admired the heroine Shiny Princess since she was a little girl. In addition to looking for "legendary trainers" to support her dream, she has also been admiring King Halo since she was a child, seeing her as a real lady and the one that closely resembles Shiny Princess's characteristics. Kawakami Princess is hoping to meet a prince, but rather than waiting for him to pick her up, she aspires to pick him up. That's why, under the guidance of King Halo, she's been training every day to become a princess. Despite her incredibly macho strength, she's worried that should that day come, her prince may not like her. But with the support of her trainer and King Halo, she hasn't given up on being both tough and elegant at the same time.

Rose is the sister of Scarlet. She and her sister were members of a Nikke squad specialized in melee combat. Rose is also the original wielder of Fleetly Fading, Scarlet's signature weapon. Later, Rose and the other melee-specialized Nikkes were rolled together into Melee Squad, a unit of mass-produced Nikkes intended to engage Raptures in close combat. Rose was designated the leader as she possessed the highest simulator scores at the time. When it came to the Melee Squad's first mission, Rose was the first to jump into a Rapture nest and begin slicing away at the enemy, compelling Scarlet and eventually the rest of the squad to jump in as well. Their very first mission was a success with zero casualties. Over the course of several missions, the Melee Squad saw increasing success against the Raptures. Yet their fortune didn't last long, as mechanical failures, supply droughts, ambushes, and Mind Switches saw the squad's numbers slowly dwindle. Despite Rose's pleas, the squad's "commander" refused to say or do anything about the situation. All came to a head when the Melee Squad was tasked with a mission that bordered on suicide. Rose had already considered instigating a rebellion to ensure her squad's survival, but this mission was the final nail in the coffin, especially once she learned the truth. The UFH was deliberately sabotaging the Melee Squad in a "survival of the fittest," and the remaining survivor would be remodeled into a Grimms Model. Thus, Rose began her rebellion in the most shocking way she could by executing her "commander" with the very blade she used to fell Raptures.

Chiz stands, professionally dressed, in the gleaming lobby at Pink Paws bank. Chiz walks the corners where the streetlights don't reach, sewage pooling under the cracks in the pavement. "Chiz, Chiz, where are you going?" Once Chiz learned to run without stumbling, she had to leave home and help her older siblings find food outside. Shiny bread wrapped in plastic... Chiz only saw that once. Most of the time, all she could find were wild vegetables and mushrooms. When even those were gone, they had no choice but to hunt "Apocha." That's what they called the edible Anomalies. But Apocha were dangerous; it was common to get hurt, and medicine was even harder to find than food. And then there was that saying: "Eat too many Apocha, and you'll become an Esper." Espers, like Anomalies, were outsiders to be driven away; because, just like Anomalies, Espers attack. After dinner.

Zero does not possess a formal anomaly hunter license and often takes on chaotic, rule-bending commissions while navigating the neon-lit streets.

Rei Ayanami

1
Her full name is Rei Ayanami. The pilot of EVA Unit Zero. She's a stoic and quiet girl who gives off an inexplicable sense of artificiality. No specific information is given about Rei's origin or heritage. Ritsuko Akagi states that Rei was born in a certain room deep in the lower levels of NERV headquarters, but this is all that is explicitly revealed in the series about her creation. The Red Cross Book stated that Rei was created from the "salvaged remains" of Yui Ikari after Yui's absorption into Unit-01 in 2004. The connection between Rei and Yui is implied a few times during the series. Gendo introduces Rei to the NERV staff in 2010 as an "acquaintance's child" whom he is temporarily taking care of. Naoko Akagi says that Rei physically resembles Yui. The character model used in the 2010 scenes is based on development materials in which her age is only 4. Rei is shown spending unknown lengths of time in an LCL-filled tube underneath a structure resembling a giant brain in the Dummy System room, the reasons for which are not revealed. The circular wall of this room is originally depicted as being covered with DNA sequences, but near the end of the series, it is revealed to be an LCL-filled tank in which dozens of soulless clones of Rei are held. The clones are said by Ritsuko to be the cores of the dummy plugs; she also refers to them as "spare parts" and later as "vessels" for Rei. The movie pamphlet and volume 11 of the manga state that she can be replaced entirely, with her soul being transferred to a new clone body every time she dies, although her memory becomes muddled with each transfer. Other supporting evidence in the anime includes her earlier line that "if I die, I can be replaced."
