Akela is introduced as the strong, hardened, and wise leader of the wolf pack. He is initially welcoming of Mowgli, having been brought to the pack by Bagheera, but also harbors concerns about Mowgli's potential to compromise the pack's safety. Akela is shown as a fair and honorable leader, teaching Mowgli the ways of the wolves alongside Raksha, but also disapproving of Mowgli's use of tools.
