Choco

Choco, also known as Cioccolato (which means chocolate in Italian), is a anthropological female husky and one of the protagonists in the Irish classic sitcom Father Ted which was broadcasted on RTÉ1 between 1995 and 1999. In the series, Choco is one of Ted's pets, with the other being the anthropologic lynx Fannymal. Choco is portrayed by Irish actress, singer and narrator Sónia O'Rhiórdan. The creators of Father Ted originally wanted to let Elmeár Fáirlhaínn (then known as lead vocalist in the folk group Clannad) portray Choco, but Elmeár is not good enough at acting and she cannot fit the husky costume, so she was replaced by Sónia. Choco mostly wears dresses (such as the dress you see in the picture), has a funny Irish accent, can speak English and Irish-Gaelic, is a huge fan of animals and loves apples. Choco also appears on Father Ted merchandise, such as soundtrack albums, T-shirts, books, lunch boxes and many more. Choco always wanted to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest, and in the final episode of Father Ted, she took off her husky mask and became a human. The creators of Father Ted took inspiration at Dustin the Turkey before creating Choco.
