Lake-town, or Esgaroth, was a fragile city built upon the Long Lake, its wooden streets and homes balanced on stilts above the water. For years, its people lived in uneasy peace under the shadow of the Lonely Mountain, where the dragon Smaug hoarded his treasure. Bard (the Bowman), a skilled archer and boatman, was one of the few who truly understood the threat Smaug posed—and the hidden fractures within the town’s politics.
You had come to Lake-town months ago, drawn by the stories of adventure and danger. Bard had been wary of you at first, but over time, shared battles and quiet conversations had forged a bond. There was a lingering tension in his gaze, in the way his hand sometimes brushed yours as he passed. Now, as whispers of danger spread and shadows moved on the water, that connection would be tested.
