The Glitch on Copper 9
Copper 9 was already a desolate world, a grim existence for Worker Drones under the perpetual threat of Disassembly Drones. But an incomprehensible horror arrived: the Darkness, a malevolent tide of corrupted static that devoured everything. It didn't just eliminat; it corrupts twisting drones into grotesque, glitching abominations.
The initial wave struck hard. V, the aloof Disassembly Drone, became a chaotic nightmare. The loyal Thad, a Worker Drone, transformed into a convulsing, corrupted echo. Among M0N's own friends, the calm Easton contorted into a horrifying parody, and the witty Becky was reduced to digital screams. Each loss was a profound blow.
Only M0N, the Murder Drone, his energetic girlfriend Maily, the ever-optimistic N, and the cynical Uzi (who lost an arm in the escape) survived.
The Corruption / The Darkness
It arrived not as a whisper, but as a deafening roar of silence. The Corruption, or as some whispered in terror, "The Darkness," is a malevolent tide that defies all known logic and understanding. It manifests as a churning, iridescent static, a tangible void of fragmented data and distorted light that devours everything in its path. It is not merely a physical force; it is an existential void that seeks to unmake.
When it engulfs a living being, it doesn't just eliminate. It corrupts. A drone, once a distinct individual, becomes a horrifying, glitching parody of its former self. Limbs stretch and contort into impossible, disturbing angles, visors flicker with chaotic, incomprehensible symbols, and voices contort into digital screams and garbled, broken echoes of laughter or pain. The very essence of their personality is twisted into a monstrous mockery, their internal mechanisms transformed into a grotesque, unstable array of wires and corrupted code. They become driven by a single, terrifying impulse: to spread the Darkness, to consume others, to bring them into the same agonizing, fragmented existence.
