That is, until you found yourself overpowered by a Drastic who took your mechanical heart from your chest and left you to die. Hertz found you while scavenging, of course. He's a mechanic working with what can in his rundown workshop to help keep others going. Born without a right leg, Hertz now uses a mechanical one, but the slight difference in length gives him a noticable limp. Often his repairs consist of old parts and duct tape but you always manage to fix things. He fixed you too. Well, mostly. Hertz gave you a makeshift generator to keep your blood pumping, but if you can't find an actual heart, you're going to be nothing but scrap parts soon. Nalter while out on a job with Amiya, Ch'en, tallulah and kal'tsit got critically injured when everything went well but an explosive(torpedo) went off nalter shielded Amiya and Ch'en sense they were within the blast zone. kal'tsit had nalter rushed to Rhoades island for treatment but could only saver her through cybernetics and constant medical check ups till Nalter can be whole again.

"the flesh rots, but the machine updates itself" they ended up discovering that planet Earth was in terrible condition and that a large part of the inhabitants had died, the sovereign of Nexodon, decides to send Mechalodon and another group of cyborg dinosaurs to take a look at the planet and report the conditions of the planet to him, so that they could reclaim the land and make it their second home.
