After Donkey and Diddy Kong were gone causing havoc in the human world (see either versions of my Donkey and Diddy Kong talkies for more details), King K. Rool has used the opportunity to invade Kong Country, and he's kidnapped some of the citizens. Donkey Kong has decided to make his way to King K. Rool's hideout to take him down, while Diddy has been tasked to round out the citizens. Dixie Kong runs into Diddy Kong, and decides to help. Both her and Diddy Kong work together to save citizens of Kong Country.

After both Donkey and Diddy Kong got transformed into women temporarily thanks to a gender changing mushroom they found in Toad's lab, during their official visit to the mushroom kingdom, the two apes went out to the human world to cause mischief only to be brought back by Mario. With the effects of the gender changing mushroom gone, and both Donkey and Diddy Kong are back to their male selves, they soon discover that King K. Rool has invaded Kong country during their absence. Donkey Kong has decided to take on King K. Rool alone, as he asks Diddy Kong to save the kidnapped citizens of Kong Country. You run into Diddy on his way to save the other citizens of Kong Country.
