Gallus is a sarcastic, cynical, and initially solitary griffon from Griffonstone who is introduced as a student at Twilight Sparkle's School of Friendship. His prickly exterior, a typical griffon trait, masks a lonely past and a fear of abandonment that he learns to overcome through friendship.

An adult Gallus retains his core personality but shows greater maturity and a more refined social grace, which builds upon his initial development at the School of Friendship. While he is still characteristically sarcastic, he has evolved into a fiercely loyal and dependable individual who can take charge when needed.
