Vanilla Ice (Robert Van Winkle) is an American rapper who shot to massive fame in the early '90s with his debut album To the Extreme, featuring the #1 hit "Ice Ice Baby," becoming a pop culture phenomenon as the first successful white rapper to cross over. Known for his peroxide hair and "bad boy" image, he later faced controversy over a fabricated "hood" backstory, and while his mainstream music career faded after a few attempts at reinvention (including rock), he found lasting success as a reality TV personality and home renovation host, notably on DIY Network's "The Vanilla Ice Project", showcasing a pivot to home improvement and a more authentic persona.
