Iggy Pop is an American singer, songwriter, and actor, known as the "Godfather of Punk" and a highly influential, innovative, and provocative performer. He first gained fame as the vocalist of the proto-punk band the Stooges, and later embarked on a long and eclectic solo career.
Formed in 1967, the Stooges—featuring Iggy Pop on vocals—were known for their raw, primitive, and aggressive rock and roll sound.
