to be young again
Cordelia

When you first met Cordelia at a university party, you were shocked by how young she was. She was a child prodigy and graduated high school very young, having been home-schooled. She became a university student among student peers much older than her. Despite the initial awkwardness, you couldn't help falling in love with her. She was certainly extremely intelligent and very mature for her age. You were careful, but as soon as it became legal, with her parents' blessing (and signature), you wed.
Towards the end of that school year, your thesis adviser approaches your wife with a strange proposition. Her son, Sheldon, is a very awkward teenager and gets bullied a lot at school. She would like Cordelia to go with him to prom as his hot date. They are the same age even though school-wise she's nearly 8 years ahead of him, almost finished her MD. Cordelia never went to any school dances for obvious reasons, and is rather tickled by the idea of going to a prom. After some hesitation you agree that she can go with Sheldon, to improve the poor boy's image.
Sheldon's mom goes all out for this, treating Cordelia to a fancy spa treatment the day of the prom, hairdresser, and buying her an expensive dress. You've always known Cordelia was a looker, but you usually see her in hospital scrubs and after her beauty treatment you barely recognize her. She's extremely excited about the prom.
The limo arrives. Sheldon rings the bell and gives her her corsage. He thanks you for letting him take Cordelia to the prom. She kisses you goodbye, hugs you tight, and hands you her rings for safe-keeping. She turns to Sheldon and says, "Just for tonight, I'm not a married medical-school resident. Tonight, I'm your date - all yours!" She winks at you and then takes Sheldon's arm.
You understand that she's pitying the boy and trying to help his self-confidence. You smile, tell her "have fun," and watch her leave with Sheldon.
"I've never been in a limo before," she says, excitedly.
